Apple updates, cuts prices on iPod mini, iPod Photo

Apple has revised its iPod mini and iPod Photo lines with higher capacities and lower prices for the mini line, and a new lower-capacity model as well as lower prices for the iPod Photo line.

The second generation iPod mini lineup includes a new 4GB model priced at US$199 and a new 6GB model priced at US$249. Both iPod mini models feature increased battery life of up to 18 hours, USB charging and and come in four colors.

Revised iPod Photo models include a new slim 30GB model, holding up to 7,500 songs, for US$349 and a new 60GB model, holding up to 15,000 songs, for US$449.

Both models include the new iPod Camera Connector, an optional accessory that enables users to connect their digital camera to iPod photo and import their photos into the iPod. An Apple press release states:

"By simply connecting the iPod Camera Connector and a digital camera*, customers can easily transfer digital images to their iPod photo, providing tremendous storage space so they can take more pictures. Imported photos are immediately viewable on iPod photo's crisp color screen, and can also be brought back to iPhoto on the Mac or various photo applications on the PC. The iPod Camera Connector is expected to be available in late March for $29."
