Apple releases Software Update 1.3 for new 2010 MacBook Pros

Apple has released a software update for the newly released 2010 MacBook Pro computers, which provides increased stability for high-performance video and gaming applications.

Don't trust the benchmarks just yet. Apple has released a software update for the newly released 2010 MacBook Pro computers, which provides increased stability for high-performance video and gaming applications.

While various Web sites have published impressive benchmarks for the new systems, showing around 30% improvement over previous models, these may change with the new software update.

At 258.32MB, the update is more than just a graphics driver update, and includes includes updates for numerous terminal commands for filesystem support, core services, frameworks, and system extensions. In addition, it will install new versions of Dashboard, Front Row, iChat, QuickTime Player, Time Machine, as well as some utilities including Expose and Spaces.

If you have just purchased one of the new 15-inch or 17-inch MacBook Pro systems, Apple recommends you download and install this update. It should be available in Software Update, but also can be downloaded at the following location:
