Apple has released a new app to help users track lost iPhones on the go. Find My iPhone does what the Web application version, found on me.com, did previously but allows users to log in from another iPhone or iPad to help in the search.
True to Apple form, the interface is simple, elegant, and easy to use. Users need only log in to the application using their MobileMe user name and password to begin finding their lost iPhone or iPad. Each device connected to the user's account will show up and begin to be tracked, appearing on a Google Map once it is found.
At that point, users can display a message or play a sound, activate a Remote Lock or a Remote Wipe. The Find My iPhone app requires iOS version 3.1.3 or later, a MobileMe subscription (currently $99/year), and is available for both iPhone and iPad.
