Apple has released Backup 3.1 -- a significant update to the data archival and scheduled backup tool available to .Mac subscribers.

Apple says the new release adds support for some backup destinations and addresses file restoration and other issues. The company also says Backup 3.1 is recommended for all users of Backup 3.0.

Significant areas addressed include:

  • Improved support for iDisk, local hard drives, and some network destinations (Mac OS X Tiger only)
  • New iWeb QuickPick and updated iLife plan
  • Addresses issues with restoring files

The new release is available through Software Update, or as a standalone download from Apple's .Mac page.
