Apple Menu Options: Disable it to solve Chooser freeze

Q. Sometimes my machine hangs when I log on via Chooser, select a volume from the volume list and click OK. Any workaround?" A. Try disabling the Apple Menu Options control panel on the client computer." (Thanks, Mike Kreitz). This is consistent with several previous reports on MacFixIt of problems related to Apple Menu Options.
