Apple Hardware Test CD included with PowerBooks An article on the Go2Mac Web site reports that a CD titled Apple Hardware Test is now included with the latest shipping units of FireWire PowerBooks. The Read Me file states: "Apple Hardware Test is a diagnostic tool for detecting problems with your computer's internal hardware components such as the logic board, memory, modem, video RAM, and Apple's AirPort card." Norton CDs updated to be bootable with new Macs Symantec has released bootable Norton Utilities and Norton AntiVirus CDs that allow you to boot from an iMac DV, iBook, G4, or newer computer using Mac OS 9.0.4. The Symantec software itself has not been updated. To order the CD, click here. (Thanks, Jim Isaac.) USB and sleep problems A new TIL article #58645 covers Apple's advice on troubleshooting sleep problems related to USB software and hardware. One particularly interesting tip: Disable the "InputSprocket Extension" (a suggestion also previously made on MacFixIt for other USB related problems). SpamCop Script Following up on our Spam fighters item from last time, Brian Bard suggests taking a look at SpamCop Script, an AppleScript for submitting Spam to Spamcop.net via email from Outlook Express.
