Cannot get Internet access through DSL/Cable modem: fix If you find that you are unable to obtain network services after applying AirPort Extreme Base Station 802.11n firmware 7.2.1, open AirPort Utility and select your Base Station from the left-hand pane, then click the "Internet" button. Next to DNS servers, check if there are any errant entries, and delete them, then restart your Base station. This may result in a reestablishment of the correct setting, and re-allow network access.

MacFIxIt reader Per Ejeklint writes:

"I had an issue when upgrading the firmware. After update I lost all connectivity, except Skype. I realized that DNS lookups wasn't working and checked the DHCP settings in the base station. To my utter surprise the first DNS IP address was now replaced by 10.0.1.1 which is completely wrong. I deleted it and then the correct IP showed up. After reboot everything worked fine again."

Slow access: Reset Cable/DSL modem or network adapter If you're experiencing dramatically slower Internet throughput after updating your Base stations firmware, try simply power cycling your Cable/DSL modem or other network adapter. MacFixIt reader Dan Carroll writes:

"After upgrading, I found that my Internet speed had slowed to 'worse than dialup.' I didn?t try to check my local network speed. Instead, I found your page through Google, linked to the VersionTracker comments, saw a suggestion to power off/power on my cable modem. That did the trick. I didn't have to reset either router."
