Advice on using Lotus Notes

A MacFixIt reader writes: "We got Lotus Notes client working with a G4 and OS 9.04, and wanted to share the info with your readers, who may have run into some of the same incompatibilities. Lotus has only certified the recently released version 5.03 Notes Client for Macintosh to work with OS 9 and G4s. Make sure you are using version 5.03, which is only about 3 weeks old. Notes 5.03 is currently still incompatible with ATM versions less than 4.5x and some versions of Norton Anti-virus. If you have these programs, and still have problems with 5.03, turn them off. As previously reported on MacFixIt, you may also have to turn off Airport extensions. It is best if you do a complete, clean install of 5.03, rather than trying to upgrade a previously installed version. You can keep your ".id" files, but trash everything else, including all of the Lotus Notes extensions (extension manager can group them together by clicking on the GROUP column). If you choose to keep a previously installed version, you should rename all of your ".nsf" files to something else, such as ".nsf old".
