Cuisinart recall: How to return your food processor's faulty blades

Worried about metal in your meals? Here's how to see if you're affected and how to return your Cuisinart blades.

Some 8 million food processors are subject to a voluntary recall from Cuisinart's parent company, Conair, after blades started falling apart and ending up in food.

Nobody wants that, so here's how to find out if your unit is affected and what to do if it is.

Check your model number

First, flip your food processor over and take note of the model number on the bottom. Does the model number begin with FP, end in Y or is it a DLC-6 model? If so, you're in the clear. No recall for you.

The units that begin with the following numbers are part of the recall:

  • CFP-9
  • CFP-11
  • DFP-7
  • DFP-11
  • DFP-14
  • DLC-5
  • DLC-7
  • DLC-8
  • DLC-10
  • DLC-XP
  • DLC-2007
  • DLC-2009
  • DLC-2011
  • DLC-2014
  • DLC-3011
  • DLC-3014
  • EV-7
  • EV-10
  • EV-11
  • EV-14
  • KFP-7
  • MP-14

Also, check the blades. Only units that have silver-colored blades with four rivets and a beige plastic center are falling apart. If there are no rivets, your blade isn't part of the recall.

How to return your faulty blades

If your food processor is a recall unit, don't chuck it in the trash. Stop using it and call Cuisinart for a replacement blade at 877-339-2534.

You can also go to the company's website to request a replacement blade. Here's a blade replacement form you can fill out. Follow the on-screen steps, fill out your information and a new blade will be sent to you.

Editor's note: This story was updated at 5:08 p.m. PT to clarify that only your blade can be returned, not the entire food processor.
