LA Auto Show to play host to 14 world debuts

A version of the VW up is expected at the LA show CNET Networks

With the Frankfurt auto show disappearing in the rearview mirror and the Tokyo show fast approaching, you would think that we would have covered all the new car debuts for this season by the end of this month. Not so, according to the organizers of next month's Los Angeles Auto Show, who say that the event will play host to no fewer than 14 world debuts.

While a press release from the organizers this week stated that "most world debuts remain closely guarded until press days," we will be surprised if we get to the show not knowing a majority of the mystery models, as automakers have a convenient habit of leaking this top-secret information out in the days leading up to the event. We already know that Hyundai will be unveiling a sports car concept, Nissan will be debuting its new Murano, and Volkswagen will be taking the wraps off a new mini-car concept--perhaps a variant of the VW up that we saw in Frankfurt. That leaves 11 unknowns. We'll keep you posted as the information on these models "accidentally" leaks out over the next few weeks.
