HD Digital Radio

Subaru will treat owners of the 2011 Forester with a better-sounding radio through HD Digital Radio.

The service will be included with the "premium radio" package option on the Forester. HD Digital Radio offers more than 2,000 crystal-clear AM and FM stations without a subscription fee.

Other automakers that offer HD Digital Radio receivers include Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Land Rover, Lincoln and Mercedes-Benz. This option is a first for Subaru models.

The service will also offer iTunes Tagging. iTunes Tagging lets you capture information about a song on the radio and store it on your iPod by pushing the "Tag" button on the HD Radio receiver. When your iPod is connected to iTunes, a list of tagged songs will appear which can be previewed, purchased, and downloaded.

"We are extremely pleased that a high-quality and growing brand such as Subaru has committed to offering their drivers the best in digital entertainment with the popular Forester model," said Jeff Jury, Chief Operating Officer of iBiquity Digital, the developer of digital HD Radio Technology. "Subaru has differentiated itself from the competitive Japanese automotive landscape by being the first to offer HD Radio Technology, along with iTunes Tagging, and we're confident that their customers will enjoy the expanded radio experience."
