Gangsters and rappers rejoice! It's time to buy American again with a new Chrysler 300C just around the corner.

Outlook

In the lead up to January 2011's Detroit Motor Show, Chrysler has released images and some details about its redesigned 300C luxury sedan. No word yet on when the car will be available in Australia.

In brief

The car that made it cool for gangsters and rappers to buy American again has been redesigned with a new exterior and interior.

On the inside, amongst the soft touch plastics, there's an 8.4-inch touchscreen entertainment and navigation system dubbed Uconnect; navigation is provided by Garmin. Thanks to satellite radio in the States, 300C drivers can check petrol prices, weather forecasts, movie times and the like.

Other nice touches include the brilliant sapphire blue instrument panel, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery and (supposedly) real wood accents. Externally, there's LED daytime running lamps and tail-lights, optional 20-inch alloy wheels and a tasteful amount of chrome.

No word yet on what engines will be available, but we can probably expect V6 and V8 petrol engines and a turbo-diesel V6. Power will still go to the rear wheels, more than likely through an automatic transmission with just five gears.
