Viewsonic introduces series of Windows 8 touch displays
The TD40 series mixes ergonomics and performance to enhance the Windows 8 touch-screen experience.
LAS VEGAS--ViewSonic announced its new series of Windows 8-certified touch displays. The TD40 series consists of the 23-inch TD2340, the 27-inch TD2740, and the 32-inch TD3240 monitors. The IPS panel displays have a 1,920x1,080 HD resolution and were announced at CES 2013, along with ViewSonic's 24-inch VSD240 smart display.
The TD40 series monitors are designed to maximize and enhance the use of Windows 8 on the touch displays. In addition to the professional grade IPS panels and full HD resolution, the monitors use 10-point projected capacitive touch technology that is designed to make the touch-screen interaction fast and accurate.
The TD40 series also focuses on the customer's Windows 8 experience through the touch display's ergonomic designs. The TD2340 and TD2740 have different designs but both allow the monitors to pivot or lay flat, making touch-screen use more comfortable to the user.
The TD3240 is made with commercial applications in mind and therefore differs from the smaller monitors in the series. It has a screen with 7H surface hardness which makes it an option for interactive commercial displays with heavy traffic, like a kiosk, or if you're the man with the iron fists.
Other ports on the monitors include DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, and USB. The only model that offers an integrated Webcam is the TD2740.
The TD40 series will roll out through April. The TD2340 will be released in January for $599, the TD3240 will be released in February for $2,499, and the TD2740 in April for $799.
