While the cost is above that of normal-powered USB hubs, you're paying for design and the mouse bungee — if this combination makes sense to you, then the Apuri is an extremely well-built device that will be at home on any desk.
There's not much to say about Roccat's Apuri — it is, after all, a big USB 2.0 hub, offering four ports.

The Apuri requires power, so apart from the USB cable to your computer you'll also need an extra power socket. The up side of this is it'll handle any USB device you throw at it, which is more than can be said of some of the USB ports that are front-mounted on cases. Given that the ports are raised off the surface by a good 2cm, it also makes them easily accessible.
This is all helped by the fact that the Apuri is also a mouse bungee: a device that holds your mouse cord so it never gets tangled or tugs, and makes it feel as if it's wireless. The market for mouse bungees has never been huge, even for gamers, but with its flexible rubber limb the Apuri works and works well. If you just want it for the USB ports, the mouse bungee is easily detached, too.
It wouldn't be a gaming device without glowing lights, and as such there are three blue quadrilateral lights on top and a big glowing Roccat logo underneath, which simply washes the area below with an ambient glow. There's no way to turn this off, so if you're bugged by lights, steer clear. Still, it's subtle enough that you should be able to get to sleep easily even if it's in the same room.
