A play and pause button, along with volume controls, sit on the left earpiece, while the power and phone buttons are located on the right side. Additional controls, such as the ability to skip songs or go back, can be accessed with a long press or double tap of the play button. Although small, the BackBeat Fit has good battery life. While listening to music, the headphones will last up to eight hours, or up to six hours of talk time. In standby they can last up to 14 days, while a "Deep Sleep" hibernation mode promises up to six months of battery life.

The headphones weight only 24 grams and are comfortable to wear, although they tend to bounce when running or working out. The stereo sound is very clear with strong bass levels. In addition to a Micro-USB cord, the headphones come with a reversible two-in-one armband and carrying case.

The BackBeat Fit will be available in lime and blue in April for $129.
