The Perfect Blend system uses a connected kitchen scale and app to guide you through smoothie recipes. This is the latest weight-based tool from Pure Imagination, which will display the Perfect Blend at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The company that sought to perfect boozy drinks and baked goods wants to revamp your morning smoothie. The Perfect Company, formerly called Pure Imagination, will add the Perfect Blend system to its lineup of culinary kits today at CES Unveiled, an early-access event for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Perfect Blend pairs a connected kitchen scale with an app that uses an index of more than 200 recipes and the weight of your ingredients to help you build a better, healthier smoothie.
The system is similar to the company's Perfect Bake and Perfect Drink, which use collections of recipes and the weight of ingredients to guide you step-by-step through instructions for baked goods and cocktails.
The Perfect Company hasn't set a price for the Perfect Blend, which will be available this spring, but some retailers are selling the Perfect Bake and Perfect Drink for $50, which converts to around £35 or AU$70. The Perfect Blend system doesn't include a blender or pitcher for your smoothies, which works out well for folks who already have a favorite blending system but want to improve their drinks. Smoothie newbies, however, will have invest at least $20 for a basic blender on top of their Perfect Blend purchase. The lack of extra hardware is a letdown when you consider that the Perfect Bake included bowls for ingredients and the Perfect Drink contained a cocktail shaker.
The Perfect Blend scale is similar to the other models from this brand: It's a round, silver unit with a simple, backlit display and four buttons. The Perfect Blend app, however, is robust and responsive. You can set dietary preferences, such as vegan, dairy free or nut-free, and the app will tweak the recipes you select accordingly. You can also select if you're using a traditional, multi-serving blender or a single serving unit - the app will invert the recipe so you have the ingredients layered for the best blending.
To use the Perfect Blend, you sit an empty pitcher on the scale and select a recipe from the app. As you add ingredients to your pitcher, a virtual blender will fill up and tell you when to stop pouring. It even provides you with instructions on how long to blend.
If you already have a Perfect Bake or Perfect Drink scale, the company will let you set up an account that can be used on all three apps, so you'll only need one scale. I wouldn't be surprised if the Perfect Company eventually produces a single integrated scale rather than keep selling three separate but nearly-identical products.
