The lighter version of the G3 flagship still has Android 4.4 KitKat and LG's charms, but a smaller price tag.

The LG G3 Vigor is a slightly smaller G3 for less. Sprint

A lighter, cheaper version of the LG G3 will come a'knockin' at Sprint customers' doors starting September 19.

For $312 all in, or $0 down and $13 per month for 24 months, the 5-inch LG G3 Vigor is only slightly smaller than the original G3 and has the same Android 4.4 OS.

It's the more modest features that account for the significantly cheaper price. You have a 720p HD display instead of the Quad HD resolution (2,560x1,440), an 8-megapixel camera rather than 13-megapixels, a less generous 8GB of internal storage, and 1GB RAM.

The front-facing camera and CPU also lean toward reliable performance at 1.3-megapixels and 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, respectively.

The battery is still looking like it'll be strong at 2,540mAh, and you can expand storage by 32GB more through a microSD card.

Like other handsets in LG's stable, the Vigor will maintain its vendor's signature software suite, including the Knock Code security feature, Knock On to double-tap the screen on and off, and other touches that complete the LG experience.

Color options also set this Vigor apart. Unlike the flagship LG G3, this handset shies away from gold. You'll be able to pick up the device, which runs on the carrier's LTE Spark network, in burgundy or metallic black.
