LAS VEGAS -- We covered Fugoo's entry into the Bluetooth speaker market last year with its original Fugoo Go Anywhere speaker, which features interchangeable jackets and comes in a few different flavors.
For its second speaker, Fugoo has gone bigger with the Fugoo XL, which also comes in a few different options with two new jacket styles. The new model is larger, plays louder and is fully waterproof (IP67 certified).
The original Fugoo had impressive battery life and this model is rated as offering up to a whopping 35 hours of continuous music at moderate volume levels.
According to the specs, the Fugoo XL has eight acoustic drivers and throws out 24 watts of audio power by way of four neodymium tweeters, two neodymium aluminum domed mid-woofers and two passive radiators. The company says that to get true 360-degree audio, the drivers are strategically placed on all four sides of the speaker at an 8-degree upper angle to deliver a 360-degree sweet spot.
Other features include built-in full-duplex speakerphone functionality and an omni-directional microphone, along with a USB port for charging smartphones.
The Fugoo XL speaker, XL jackets and XL straps will be available in April in the US, Canada and several countries in Europe from fugoo.com, Amazon and other selected retailers. The Style XL and Sport XL speakers will be $300 and the Fugoo XL is $330. No word yet on UK or Australian pricing, but the US prices convert to £200 or AU$370, and £215 or AU$405 respectively.
