Rugged Canon PowerShot D30 takes the deepest dive
If you're looking for a camera that can dive underwater beyond 50 feet without a housing, Canon has something to show you.
How deep do you need to dive with your waterproof point-and-shoot?
The new Canon PowerShot D30 can be taken on dives down 82 feet without the need for a housing, blowing past the 59 feet of waterproof protection offered by Nikon's Coolpix AW120.

See all pricesThe D30 is also shockproof to 6.5 feet and freezeproof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, which basically matches what Nikon offers.
However, outside of the increased durability claims, a new Sunlight LCD mode to reduce glare, and a redesigned body, the D30 is pretty much the same as the two-year-old PowerShot D20.
That means you'll be getting the same slow 5x f3.9-4.8 28-140mm lens and a 12-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and two-generations-old Digic 4 image processor. From a shooting-features standpoint, that's going to put this camera well behind the competition.
The Canon PowerShot D30 will be available starting in April for $329.99.
