The two Arkham games from Warner Bros were much lauded by critics and players alike, so it's not surprising that the company would consider a new one.

What is surprising is how quickly the third Batman game may arrive. Buried in Time Warner's recent earning reports is the following quote from the CFO:

And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.

But that's it — there's genuinely no other information. According to sources speaking separately to VG247, the next Arkham game is a prequel (not being made by Rocksteady) and isn't expected until 2014 at the earliest.

This could be a case of a CFO getting gung-ho when talking about cash, but it's a pretty specific call on the franchise and timing, so we'll be watching this one carefully.
