We reported last month that one of the rumoured names for the new Xbox was the Xbox Infinity, rather than the Xbox 720. This name seems to be gaining traction, according to a report from the UK arm of the International Business Times.

The publication claims that "sources close to Microsoft" confirmed that the next gen-console will indeed be named the Xbox Infinity.
Further, the sources say that development kits for the new console are already with the major gaming studios.
Microsoft will reveal the new Xbox in an event on 22 May (AEST). Call of Duty: Ghosts is expected to feature extensively at the launch — including a full trailer — and may be named as a launch title for the Infinity.
As always, Microsoft remains silent on the rumours regarding the next Xbox console. Responding to requests for more information, the Redmond, Washington-based company rolled out its favourite media statement:
We do not comment on rumours or speculation. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform, but we don't have anything further to share at this time.
