Microsoft signs two more Japanese game gurus
Microsoft has signed two more Japanese games gurus to write games exclusively for the new Xbox.
Looks like Microsoft is trying hard to make sure the next generation Xbox will be a bigger hit in Japan the current model, signing up two more Japanese game luminaries to write games exclusively for the new console.
Microsoft says video game developers Yoshiki Okamoto, President and CEO of Game Republic, and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Creator and Co-founder, Q Entertainment, have signed up with Microsoft Game Studios to develop exclusive next-generation Xbox games. This follows the announcement late last week that Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi had agreed to write two role playing games exclusively for the new Xbox.
Okamoto was the driving force behind games such as the Street Fighter and Resident Evil series. Mizuguchi, who founded Q Entertainment in 2003, is the creative force behind blockbusters including SEGA Rally Championship, Rez and Space Channel 5.
The addition of Mizuguchi and Okamoto further reveals Microsoft's strategy for attracting Japanese gamers. In sales terms, the current Xbox languishes behind Sony's PS2 in the Japan, considered the premier gaming nation in the world.
