Here at CNET.com.au, we take our rock seriously. Which is why we're excited to report that Guitar Hero, the guitar simulation for PlayStation 2 being distributed by Activision, has a confirmed local launch date of 15 June.

What excited us even more was the arrival of our Guitar Hero review unit at the CNET.com.au offices today, no doubt delivered by an ominous figure clad all in black wearing leather gauntlets. Expect an early review of the game sometime next week.

For those not in the know, Guitar Hero comes with a replica Gibson SG guitar which is used to rock out to the more than 30 tracks available in the game. At its core, Guitar Hero is a rhythm game where players have to strum and hold down keys in time with music. There are some great tracks to play to in this game, including Iron Man by Black Sabbath, Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie and much more. Guitar Hero will retail for AU$129.95.
