Video games on display: The incredible booths of E3 2016

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) isn't open to the public, but you can still witness the spectacle right here.

Sean Hollister Senior Editor / Reviews
When his parents denied him a Super NES, he got mad. When they traded a prize Sega Genesis for a 2400 baud modem, he got even. Years of Internet shareware, eBay'd possessions and video game testing jobs after that, he joined Engadget. He helped found The Verge, and later served as Gizmodo's reviews editor. When he's not madly testing laptops, apps, virtual reality experiences, and whatever new gadget will supposedly change the world, he likes to kick back with some games, a good Nerf blaster, and a bottle of Tejava.

Every year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles plays host to a $90 billion-plus industry: video games. That industry doesn't mess around. When you walk onto the show floor, you're bombarded by sights and sounds. And it's not always the games themselves, as companies construct elaborate booths, covered with screens and speakers, to help market and house those products. And this year, there were some incredible ones.

These are the booths of E3 2016. Since E3 isn't open to the public -- yet -- consider this your virtual tour.
