Dodo Xbox bundle: broadband and console from AU$60/month

Dodo is offering an Xbox bundle to attract new subscribers to its unlimited broadband offering.

The Dodo bundle includes a 4GB Xbox 360, a Kinect sensor, 24 months of Xbox Live Gold membership and three games — Disneyland Adventures and Kinect Adventures, plus either Halo 4 or Sesame Street, presumably based on how many kids are in the house.

You'll need to sign up for 24 months at AU$59.90 per month, and the minimum cost is AU$1437.60 over that 24 months. It's also worth noting that the AU$59.90 package is metropolitan only — those who live in regional areas will have to pay AU$69.90.

Dodo also has an AU$39.90 per month unlimited plan, which will give you a choice of either an Xbox game or a 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Interestingly, the promo for the bundle via the Xbox.com.au front page also lets you upgrade the console to the 250GB model for AU$99, but we couldn't find any mention of this on the Dodo pages.

So, is it worth it? Dodo has had a poor reputation in the past, but the most recent of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) reports showed that complaints against Dodo have declined — not overly significantly, but they were down 4.7 per cent from the last period.

So that's AU$1536.60 for a 250GB Xbox with Kinect, two years of Xbox Live Gold, three games and an unlimited broadband plan for 24 months. It's not a bad offering, assuming that Dodo can continue its downward trend in the complaints department.
