The Neato D7 is a lidar-guided robot vacuum cleaner that keeps earning kudos here at CNET. In our write-up of the best robot vacuums for 2020, Brian Bennett declared it the "best midrange robot vacuum." And head-to-head against the iRobot Roomba S9 Plus, the D7 was called "the best all-around value." Usually priced at $600 or more, the Neato D7 drops to $480 with promo code SPOOKYCLEAN. That matches the best deal ever for the D7 -- now through Oct. 31, after which it flies away like bats silhouetted against the moon in dark Halloween sky.

The D7's lidar lets the vacuum cleaner bot accurately map your entire house, including multiple floors. You can custom-edit the floor maps, easily creating virtual no-go zones anywhere in the house without barriers or lighthouses. Based on hands-on testing, Brian also pointed out that the D7 was faster and cleaned more consistently than the Roomba S9 Plus, in part because the vacuum knew the exact floorplan and could clean in straight lines rather than randomly moving about.

In addition, you can control the robot using the Neato app as a remote control and link it to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. The battery runs for about 120 minutes between charges.

If you want to bring a cheaper vacuum bot home for Halloween this week, yYou can nab the Neato D4 for $320 with promo code SPOOKYCLEAN. That's very, very close to the lowest price ever for this vacuum. It relies on the same lidar sensors for navigation and you can configure no-go lines, but it has a somewhat reduced 75 minutes of battery life and lacks its big brother's turbo mode. Even so, that's a great price for a dependable robot vacuum.
