Hasbro

The Astro Megazord from 1998's Power Rangers in Space series is the latest giant robot from the Power Rangers series to be recreated for Hasbro's Zord Ascension Project.

The $166 Astro Megazord, revealed Friday as part of Hasbro's Pulse Con event, is unique in that it's created by the transformation of the larger Astro Megaship and the smaller Astro Megashuttle into the mecha. Most Megazords in other Power Rangers series are created by merging several robots piloted by an individual Power Ranger.

Hasbro Pulse Premium Members can preorder the model on Hasbro Pulse in the US, Canada, and select European markets on Friday at 2 p.m. ET (5 p.m. ET). It'll be available at 6 p.m. ET for anyone else hoping to order. It'll also be available at GameStopEntertainment EarthDorksidetoys and BigBadToyStore.

The Megaship appears in the In Space series and the following Lost Galaxy series in 1999. It also serves as the Rangers' base of operations.

This figure is a 1:144-scale recreation, and it comes with 14 accessories and premium packaging. Hasbro says that specialized paint techniques are used to create the details of the Astro Megazord.

The Astro Megazord joins the previously released Dragonzord and original Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Megazord in the Zord Ascension Project line. It becomes available for preorder Friday on Hasbro's Pulse website and other retailers.

The release of the space-themed Megazord comes just as the Power Rangers franchise is dipping back into its intergalactic side. Power Rangers: Dino Fury Executive Producer Simon Bennett announced in August that the next series of Power Rangers will be subtitled Cosmic Fury and will continue to star the cast introduced in Dino Fury. The Power Rangers TV show currently streams on Netflix.
