Why You Can Trust CNET 5 trailers to watch while you're waiting for Marvel to #FreetheFootage
We can't watch Spidey or Baby Groot legally yet, so here are some Comic-Con trailers to ease the pain.
How dare Marvel not release its Comic-Con exclusive footage?! And yes, I know it's called "exclusive" for a reason.
But doesn't Marvel know we're all just sitting here, waiting for our first look at "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (especially if it includes any Kurt Russell and Sly Stallone)?? And I know there's concept art for the Vulture, but I want to see Tom Holland roaming the halls and/or climbing walls in "Spider-Man: Homecoming"!
It's just so rude of Marvel to deprive its adoring public of the chance to bask in the warm glow of super-special attendee footage. To cope, I've compiled some awesome other trailers that were released this weekend in San Diego -- it won't release the footage any sooner, but hey, time flies when you're angry (or so I've heard?).

'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency'
What is this? Based on the book series by Douglas Adams, it's about a detective (the titular Dirk Gently) and his inadvertent sidekick, and it seems hazardously hilarious. It stars Elijah Wood as Todd, Samuel Barnett ("Penny Dreadful") as the title character and Richard Schiff ("The West Wing"). I expect it to be a sort of kindred spirit with the zany "Psych" -- which is good, I've been missing a funny crime show.
Premieres: October 22, time TBD, on BBC America
Standout: Todd screaming, "I am not your Watson!" It's OK Elijah, we known you're used to being the main man.
'American Gods'
What is this? Another series based on books, this time by Neil Gaiman. The executive producer is Bryan Fuller (who's also working on "Star Trek Discovery"), and has a spectacular cast: Ian McShane, Peter Stormare, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Cloris Leachman, Cillian Anderson, Orlando Jones, Kristin Chenoweth -- you get the idea.
Premieres: 2017 on Starz
Standout: That haunting song in the background! It reminds me of (some of) the dark and mysterious songs of "True Blood." It's a cover of "In the Pines" by Danny Farrant and Paul Rawson.
'Blair Witch'
What is this? This is exactly what it sounds like, a sequel to the OG "Blair Witch Project." What's impressive is that it was filmed without any word of this leaking. I'm sure it being almost 20 years after the original helped.
Premieres: In theaters Friday, September 16
'Son of Zorn'
What is this? A TV show for people who like funny things. Jason Sudeikis ("Horrible Bosses") voices the animated Zorn who's returned to Earth after decades away to see his son and has to learn to how to fit in among the...three-dimensional?
Premieres: Sunday, September 25, 8:30 p.m. on Fox
Standout: "Your dad? He calls it a va-jibe-a." Awesome, thanks mom (played by Cheryl Holloway).
'Fear the Walking Dead'
What is this? The "prequel" to "The Walking Dead" (which released its own season 7 trailer this weekend!) which was originally set in Southern California.
Premieres: The second half of season 2 begins Sunday, August 21, at 9 p.m. on AMC
Standout: The sacrificial lamb headed straight to the slaughter. Because what's scary than LA in a zombiepocalypse? Tijuana.

Well, lucky you, because we got way more trailers this weekend.
- "Wonder Woman" got its first trailer.
- "Suicide Squad" got its (likely) final trailer.
- "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them" makes Congress look cool.
- "Kong: Skull Island" looks like Samuel L. Jackson fighting a real big monster (that means awesome, BTW).
- "Legends of the Hidden Temple" is getting a Nickelodeon TV movie, and the '90s nostalgia lover inside me can't stop squealing with delight.
- "The Lego Batman Movie" showed off someone other than the Caped Crusader.
- "Sherlock" got a season 4 trailer (not that it's coming soon or anything).
- "Legion" is about to be the newest Marvel TV show on the block.
- And that new Star Trek series got more than just a name!
Plus, Marvel released some Netflix fun for "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders." And DC continued to remind us that its TV shows are disjointed and "extended."
