Vignette has named Michael A. Aviles as its new CEO, effective immediately, the company announced Tuesday. Aviles formerly served as CEO of Austin, Texas-based Activant Solutions, a software and IT services provider. He'll also serve as president of Vignette.

Aviles replaces Thomas Hogan, who left the content management company last month to oversee Hewlett-Packards' Technology Solutions Group.
