Verizon, RIAA spar over second subpoena
WASHINGTON--Verizon Communications and the major record labels will face off again before a federal judge on April 1. That's when U.S. District Judge John Bates will hear arguments over a second subpoena the Recording Industry Association of America sent to Verizon under the controversial . Bates ruled the first subpoena seeking the identity of a Kazaa user was valid, but Verizon has appealed. The case pits the reach of copyright law against Internet users' right to privacy.
