Verizon expands DSL service

Verizon Communications on Tuesday said it has extended its 3mbps to 16 more regions in its geographical footprint. The speed tier, which includes 768kbps upstream, will cost $39.95 a month and require a local or long-distance phone package to qualify.

The new regions affected include California, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. Until now, users in these areas have been offered DSL service of up to 1.5mbps.
