• SiGe Semiconductor raised a $42.8 million second round of funding, led by TD Capital Technology Ventures. 3i US and Prism Venture Partners, as well as previous investors VenGrowth Capital Partners, CDP Capital, Business Development Bank of Canada, Capital Alliance Ventures and Canadian Science & Technology Growth Fund contributed to this round. SiGe, based in Ottawa, has raised a total of $66.1 million. SiGe is a fabless semiconductor company.
• Software developer Veraz Networks received a $30 million first round of funding. The round was led by ECI Telecom, which spun off a subsidiary that merged with NexVerse Networks to create Veraz Networks. Other investors include Argonaut Private Equity and previous investors Norwest Venture Partners, Battery Ventures, Levensohn Venture Partners and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. San Jose, Calif.-based Veraz Networks develops telephony software.
• Counterpane Internet Security raised a $20 million fourth round of funding, led by Comcast Interactive Capital and Meritech Capital Partners. Previous investors Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Dell Ventures, Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Symphony Technology also contributed to this round. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company has raised a total of $78 million. Counterpane provides a security monitoring service for customers' networks.
