Unisys wins Medicaid contract from Kentucky

Unisys, which competes with IBM in running corporate networks, wins a $117 million contract to manage Kentucky's Medicaid information system.

Unisys, which competes with IBM in running corporate computer networks, won a $117 million contract to manage Kentucky's Medicaid information system.

Unisys has worked with Kentucky since 1995, processing claims and managing computers that store Medicaid information. Under the new six-year agreement, Unisys also will run computer systems that aid in the state's fraud investigations.

Unisys is attempting to expand its computer services revenue to compensate for slowing sales in its mainframe and personal- computer businesses. Unisys is focusing on areas like claims processing and financial services to compete against IBM, the world's biggest provider of information services.

Blue Bell, Pennsylvania-based Unisys rose 0.0625 to 37.625 in early trading.
