Tickets.com called the partnership a major victory. The Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company is in a tooth-and-nail struggle against rival Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch, the online arm of Ticketmaster, which sells tickets to 350,000 events each year.
Also today, the company said it laid off 30 of 600 workers, trimming its staff by less than 5 percent.
Major League Baseball's 30 club owners made online ticketing a goal when they voted in January to centralize their interactive media rights.
