Ticketmaster expanding online ticketing with purchase

The company will announce tomorrow it is buying 2b Technology for about $23 million in stock.

Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch will announce tomorrow it is buying 2b Technology for about $23 million in stock.

2bTechnology specializes in ticketing for museums and historic sites. Its clients include the British Museum, the Guggenheim Museum, CNN Studios Atlanta and the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, Calif.

Ticketmaster Online also will announce that it will offer a new product suite to expand online ticketing to local businesses such as nightclubs, community theater and comedy clubs.

Privately held 2b Technology was profitable in 1999.

"Our goal is to...(allow) our online users to get more and more things done online," John Pleasants, president of Ticketmaster Online, said in a statement.
