Sony to Debut Home PCs at Comdex

Sony officials may announce plans to sell home PCs in the United States at Comdex later today, according to a story in The Wall Street Journal.

By expanding into the highly competitive PC business, Sony would gain a foothold beyond its traditional base of music, film, and consumer audio and video, according to the report.

Sony officials are betting that its well-known brand name will entice consumers who have not yet bought home PC systems.
