Short take:Galileo due in October
Netscape Communications expects to release a beta version of its Navigator 4.0 browser, code-named Galileo, by the time of its Internet Developer Conference in mid-October, Marc Andreessen, Netscape's senior vice president of technology, told CNET today in an interview. An October release date for Galileo would once again put Netscape neck-in-neck with Microsoft, its chief rival in the browser race. Last week, CNET reported that Microsoft plans to offer a beta version of Internet Explorer 4.0 sometime in October.
