Fiber optic network provider Global Crossing has announced a $700 million plan to build out a network that spans from 18 European cities to the United States, Asia, and Latin America. The project is slated to begin this month and reach completion in the fourth quarter of 1999. The network will service telecommunications operators and Internet service providers in areas hard-pressed for bandwidth.
