Short Take: Gemplus taps former Intel exec as CFO

Smart cards maker has named Patrick Jones, most recently vice president and corporate controller of Intel, its senior vice president and chief financial officer. Jones said that Gemplus, which sells magnetic stripe cards, memory- and microprocessor-based smart cards, smart contactless cards, and electronic tags, has many parallels with the chip giant at its early stages.
