Short Take: Former Compaq exec to join Philips board

Former Compaq Computer executive Roel Pieper will join Philips Electronics NV's board of management. Pieper also was named executive vice president, and will supervise technology, strategy, and planning for the Dutch company. Pieper, who was chief executive of Tandem Computer before it was acquired by Compaq last September, resigned from Compaq last month after a four-month stint as senior vice president and general manager for worldwide sales, marketing, service, and support.
