Fore Systems has added asychronous transfer mode (ATM) video distribution and video conferencing products to its portfolio via the acquisition of Nemesys Research, based in Cambridge, England. Nemesys's hardware and software products transmit video over ATM networks with little or no delay to the user. The deal was completed for 415,000 shares of Fore stock, worth approximately $15.7 million. Nemesys will retain its Cambridge, England, headquarters, continuing as Fore's video and audio systems development group. The company has shipped video coders and decoders with management software since 1994.
