eBay today extended its four-hour
scheduled maintenance shutdown for an extra 2 1/2 hours because of
"issues with a routine hardware upgrade," the auction site said. Users
could view listings and search for items but could not place bids or list
new items. The system restarted about 6:40 a.m. PT and all auctions ending
on December 28 were extended 24 hours. The delay was not related to load or
traffic, said the company, which experienced its fourth outage this month.
