Creative Labs, a subsidiary of Creative Technology (C REAF), is now shipping a new line of multimedia kits that contain the first wireless, infrared remote-control CD-ROM drive. The patent-pending iNFRA 1800 is included in new Sound Blaster Discovery AWE64, Sound Blaster Value 32, and Blaster CD 1800 multimedia kits. The Creative iNFRA 1800 CD-ROM drive and the Creative iNFRA Remote uses Creative's wireless infrared technology to allow users to control CD playback, surf the Web, adjust the volume of Sound Blaster audio cards, launch and run applications, and emulate mouse and keyboard controls. The Sound Blaster Discovery AWE64 costs $299; the Blaster CD 1800 is $179; Sound Blaster Value 32 is $269. All are available now through retailers and distributors.
