Server guru now Sun storage tech chief

Sun Microsystems has named Balint Fleischer, a design expert in the powerful networked computers called servers, to be chief technologist of the company's Network Storage division, Sun announced Wednesday. Fleischer will research future technology for storage systems accessed over networks, a product category where Sun has faltered in the past. Fleischer joined Sun in 1992 and worked on server designs, including the new eight-processor V880 "Daktari" model, the company said. Fleischer also has led development of input-output technology, a key factor in the performance of servers. He's worked with the PCI standard as well as the newer InfiniBand standard.
