Report: Network-processor market to grow

Boston-based research company The Yankee Group has released a report that says network processors--chips designed to help identify and route data over a computer network--have made significant progress over the last two years. The report, "Network Processors: Fact or Fiction," predicts the market for network processors will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 66 percent over the next five years, rising in value from $200 million in 2000 to $2.5 billion by 2005.
