Procom ships removable hard drives

The technology is targeted for applications in which data security is critical, since the drive can be removed and locked in a secure location.

Procom Technology has announced that it is shipping new removable hard drives for network storage systems.

The Pride Port removable hard drive system comes in capacities ranging from 1.2GB to 6.4GB.

Procom is partnering with Fountain Valley, California-based Kingston Technology to develop this product family, targeted for applications in which data security is critical since the drive can be removed and locked in a secure location, according to Procom.

Pride Port is sold through computer resellers and distributors, starting at $620.

The Pride Port product now includes SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) offerings in the 2.1GB and 4.3GB capacities; higher capacities are under development. Procom also released external units that include both single- and dual-bay configurations.

Kingston is supplying Procom its Data Express removable hard drive enclosures, Procom said.
