MIDDAY MARKETS: Citrix leads techs lower

Techs lost steam at midday Monday as a warning from Citrix Systems rattled the Nasdaq and investors shifted back to blue chips. The Nasdaq shed 63.12 to 3,811.72 and the Dow Jones industrial average climbed 13.43 to 10,627.49.

The Inter@ctive Week @Net Index fell 12 to 483.41.

Shares of Citrix (Nasdaq: CTXS) plunged 18 1/16 to 23 1/8, or 44 percent Monday after the company issued a profit warning for its second quarter. Some analysts fumed on a conference call.

iBasis (Nasdaq: IBAS) gained 8 1/16 to 33 7/16. Under the terms of an agreement, China Mobile will be able to route international voice and fax traffic from its 46 million customers over the iBasis Network.

Online marketing firm Engage Inc. (Nasdaq: ENGA), down 1 3/4 to 16 3/4, will buy MediaBridge Technologies Inc. in a $268.25 million deal. Engage is a majority-owned unit of Internet incubator CMGI Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI), down 3 11/16 to 57 3/8. Engage als reports earnings after the closing bell.

Compuware Corp. (Nasdaq: CPWR) fell 1 7/16 to 12 3/8 3/8, or 10 percent after it was downgraded to "neutral'' from "buy" by analyst Rehan Syed at SG Cowen.

Corel (Nasdaq: CORL) fell 5/16 to 4 7/16 after analysts said the company will have to do a lot more cost cutting.

Consumers buying cars through online auctioneer eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY), down 4 13/16 to 68 3/8 will now be able to get them inspected, through a deal the company signed with car-maker Saturn Corp.

Among other leading tech issues: Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) dropped 13/16 to 44 1/4, Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) was down 1 3/8 to 125 11/16, Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) fell 1/2 to 63 7/8, Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq: SUNW) fell 9/16 to 89 3/8 and Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) was down 13/16 to 81 7/8. Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) shed 1 3/4 to 67 1/16

Motorola Inc.(NYSE: MOT), up 3/16 to 35 3/16 said Monday that IBM (NYSE: IBM), up 3/16 to 119 7/8 and Toshiba will work with it to offer Bluetooth technology across parts of their personal computer lines.

Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) lost 2 to 81 7/8, Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) fell 4 11/16 to 138 1/2 and America Online Inc. (NYSE: AOL) dropped 1 15/16 to 52 13/16.
