Intel zooms in on video
Intel introduces a new hardware and software package that will let users capture and edit video from VCRs and camcorders on their PCs and then send it over the Internet.
The Smart Video Recorder III uses Intel's Indeo technology to capture and compress video data in real time on a PCI board. Included software would enable people to embed video clips on a Web page with a click of the mouse.
The package includes the card, RCA and S-video cable, Indeo software and video editing, and Web publishing software from Asymetrix. Smart Video will run on systems with Windows 95, a 90-MHz or faster Pentium, and SVGA graphics.
Intel says the Smart Video Recorder III package will have a suggested retail price of under $200, but did not announce when the product would be available.
