IBM, LabBook targeting life sciences

IBM and LabBook have teamed to target the life sciences genomic research market with data-management products. The companies said Wednesday that the products combine LabBook's desktop information retrieval, integration, mining and visualization software with Big Blue's back-end data management, data integration and Internet infrastructure software. LabBook, which provides XML-based Internet services and life sciences applications, also plans to develop, port and configure its technology to IBM's server software and middleware. This includes its DB2 Universal Database, Discovery Link data integration software and WebSphere application server. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
