Gateway replaces top IT exec

Gateway said Monday that it is replacing Will Headapohl, its chief information officer, with four-year Gateway veteran Steve Phillips. Phillips, 40, will be responsible for defining the PC maker's information technology strategy. A representative of the Poway, Calif.-based company said Headapohl remains a full-time employee and will be transitioning into a new role that has yet to be fully defined.

Headapohl joined Gateway two years ago. He was earlier an executive vice president of CNET Networks, publisher of News.com, as well as chief operating officer of now-defunct e-tailer Beyond.com.
